I completed an LLB (Hons) Law Degree at the University of Reading followed by the Legal Practice Course at The College of Law. I then trained in Hereford and moved to Kent in 2000, working for another firm until joining Whitehead Monckton in 2004.
I have expertise in:
- Finances following divorce
- Breakdown of unmarried relationships
- Children matters
I became a Resolution accredited specialist family lawyer in 2006, with particular specialisms in limited asset financial cases and unmarried relationships. I am also keen to promote out of court settlement and to further that aim, I trained as a collaborative lawyer in 2007. I became Chair of Kent Resolution in November 2016.
I was nominated for the Kent Law Society Award for Outstanding Achievement in 2017.
What my clients say:
"You set out my choices regarding the different ways of coming to an agreement clearly and in a language that was easy to understand, and were clear as to the potential costs involved. You took time to understand my wishes and it was clear that you took those into account when giving your advice, and you discussed what for me, were emotive subjects, in a relaxed and yet professional manner."
"I wish to thank you again for the exemplary service which both my partner and I have had the pleasure of receiving on personal issues together with business related ones as well. To know that the advice that you are to receive gives you peace of mind when dealing with such sensitive issues."
"Many thanks for all your help, I very much appreciated your support through a difficult time. Your particular 'approach' and humour were very reassuring and grounding at all times. I'm also very glad for your advice to use the collaborative approach as I feel that has been instrumental in the good relations my wife and I have been able to maintain"
"I want to thank you for all the help you have given me over the years. It was a great comfort to me knowing that I could always rely on you. It meant such a lot. Brigitte".
"I cannot thank you enough for what you have done for me. I was in a very dark place when I came to see you but you helped me so much for that I am truly grateful. I hope I will never need you again but if I do, I will make a point of coming to you and I will of course recommend you to my friends. All the best to you and your family. Tina".
"I want to thank you for all of your advice, and particularly the sensitivity which you brought to the process. I think you could see from the outset that both (my wife) and I were coming at this from a constructive angle and that we didn't need anything other than coaching, guidance and your professional experience. Allowing us the space to develop the divorce particulars essentially between ourselves meant that we have maintained a level of communication and trust. Tom".
"I would like to put on record my sincerest thanks for all your assistance over the past 2 years. Your professionalism and attention to detail have been outstanding and I wish you all the best in your future career. Philip".
"I instructed Whitehead Monckton to deal with the sensitive issue of access to my daughter. From start to finish I cannot fault Jonathan Miller and his team for their supreme professionalism and assistance with this very emotional challenge in my life. I was advised about the process every step of the way and despite a stressful experience the outcome was worth the investment. They achieved what I could not. Gaining access back to my beloved daughter which has since made us both so happy. Thank you just does not seem enough" - 2018
When out of the office.
I enjoy cycling and am often pedalling up and down the hills of Kent at weekends. I have completed various rides for charity, including Kent Air Ambulance and cycled from London to Paris for Christian Aid.
