A hundred gather for cafe's grand opening.
The dementia cafe at Tenterden town station has been declared officially open. About 100 people gathered to witness the opening of the Just the Ticket Memory Cafe last Friday, at Kent & East Sussex Railway's (K&ESR) refreshment room.
Mike Hill, KCC's cabinet member for community services, who lives in the town, performed the official ceremony cutting a cake to mark the event.
Other officials including Mayor of Tenterden Pam Smith, and the town's vicar, Canon Lindsay-Hammond were present for the occasion as well as about 18 volunteers.
Caroline Speed, Senior Solicitor at our Tenterden office was present and was presented with stickers by the Tenterden mayor, Cllr Smith as one of the first businesses in the town to be officially recognised as dementia friendly.
The Just the Ticket Memory Cafe will operate every Friday between 10.30am and 12.30pm with the first meeting taking place today (22.4.16).
